Through innovation and creative methods, we engage and activate the community to be empowered, educated, and trained to begin addressing and changing the ills of our communities.
All of S.C.C.O.R.E's members are empowered to develop leadership, personal mastery, and community engagement skills through connection with local mentors and participation in community advocacy work where their voice and choice are primary.
S.C.C.O.R.E's programs develop ethical thought leaders dedicated to changing the conditions of poverty through community civic engagement.

We identify, train, and empower, individuals through education
Education is a cornerstone priority for SCCORE. We don't only educate in the area of civic engagement, but we work with students helping them in many areas.
Our cornerstone program is the SCCORE Tutorial and Life Support Bridge Program (STLSBP) which is a community to home to school program whose focus is to support its youth and families through providing gap services to school aged children during the school year. It is an extension of SCCORE’s Summer Youth Program (SSYP). The 6-week program consists of intergenerational volunteerism. It brings together professionals and community volunteers to provide academic, trade, and life skill building in a fun and creative way.
We also understand how important postsecondary degrees and trade schools are for career success over a lifetime and we work with students to educate them on the different options available for them. SCCORE staff and volunteers help young people to assess their skills and interests and match them to local labor market trends in order to make informed career and educational choices, equipping them with resources that allow them to live out their best dreams.
SCCORE’s education components vary with the needs of the young people engaged by each SCCORE education partner. SCCORE programs equip young people with the human, and social capital necessary to achieve skills that lead to viable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

We move from advocacy to action through our service in the community SCCORE was built on a philosophy of service expressed by the founding members. Our members pursue a dual mission: to create a meaningful and productive life for themselves and their families while giving their best energies to improve the community around them.
Because of this service mission, SCCORE staff and volunteers have participated in food drives, clothing drives, winter shelter initiatives and the Port Huron Area Schools Lunch Buddy program. Our cornerstone service project is our Adopt a School initiative.

SCCORE Adopted Cleveland Elementary 2018-19. We will also adopt other schools.
What was included in the Adopt a School Initiative?
Gave monies to assist Parent group with monies for their End of Year Carnival.
Gave Tons of fresh vegetables, Meats, and other goods to Cleveland School Families.
After having identified that only a few parents had been in attendance during the last school year, we assisted Parent Advocate Leader at Cleveland in signing up over 40 Parents who expressed an interest to be involved in, then, Cleveland Action Team/Parent Group (CAT) program.
